2 weeks to RES/722, Again!

Well, I am little behind in my posting. I’ve been playing get ahead at work due to a co-workers happy leaving for maternity leave. I am helping her out on her projects and that has delayed my posting. But….I’m back. I am a little under 2 weeks to my second attempt at RES/722 – Research Design. It is a course heavy with statistics and research. This course is crucial to success in following courses where I will be developing my first 3 chapters, research plan, methodologies, experiments and seeking test sites. It is an important course and I’ve had a harrowing adventure to this point.

I am also planning a short trip to my cottage in Temagami, Ontario, Canada in the first week of the course. Meaning that I need to do some juggling. So, I’ve been working through the first two weeks’ assignments and getting them ready to submit. When you are a distance student, you take ownership of your education. This means living with the choices and dealing with the ripple-effect of the stones you cast in the pond.
However, the text for the course is an unnecessarily complicated eBook. Probably the most obvious complication is that it is in 2-column format. This makes reading it online difficult. So, I either read it in small font to see the whole page (my eyes are strained enough), print it (600+ pages), buy it (not likely), or find another book. So I did!
This class is unusual at UOP. Typically, I have 2 reading weeks to read and prepare for the rest of the class. This class, though, has 2 working weeks to prepare for the subsequent 6 weeks of instruction. In getting ready for class I am completing some important tasks:
- Complete stats tutorials
- Read Resources
- Complete stats assessments
- Write a new biography
- Outline assignment project tasks
- Get organized
If you’ve got some advice, let me know in a comment.

[...] So, I’ve been thinking about a possible mini-study. Something that could help me apply the lessons from RES/722 and lead to potential conference engagements. [...]
